One of the most iconic scenes that every woman over 30 must know, is from “When Harry Met Sally.” Meg Ryan loudly fakes an orgasm in a crowded restaurant to show Billy Crystal how real a fake orgasm can sound. The thing is, this scene rings true. A lot of times, we fake ourselves out of real pleasure.
This brings me to my rant: women are natural fakers! I’m not even sure why we do this. For me, personally, it wasn’t until age 40 that I stopped feeling the need to fake scream in bed. One day, I was talking with my mom about orgasms when she gave me a brilliant metaphor. She said, “having good sex is like playing tennis…it’s just another set of balls! You just need to focus on hitting the balls.”
This struck a chord – I wanted to focus on hitting the balls…on having good sex. My husband noticed my silence and asked what was wrong. He wanted to know why I wasn’t screaming. He thought I wasn’t enjoying myself. I simply said, “Baby, I’m concentrating.” That was that. I was focusing on getting better at real sex.

This curiosity with faking it began when I was chatting with a beautiful lady on the plane. Understand, usually, I don’t talk on planes since it is my quiet time.
